- 1 cup rice
- 1½ tsp 78E Tomato Powder
- 1 small onion, sliced
- 1 green chilli (optional)
- ¼ tsp turmeric
- Salt to taste
- 2 cups water
- 1 cup rice
- ½ tsp mustard seeds
- ½ tsp cumin seeds
- Curry leaves
Preparation
- Cook rice:
- Cook rice separately and keep fluffy.
- Prepare masala:
- Heat oil. Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, curry leaves, green chilli, and onion.
- Add tomato powder:
- Mix tomato powder with 3 tbsp warm water. Add to pan along with turmeric and salt. Cook until aromatic.
- Combine:
- Add cooked rice and gently mix.
Tip
- Tomato powder replaces both fresh tomatoes and tamarind—adjust quantity based on tang preference.
