Preparation

  1. Cook rice:
    • Cook rice separately and keep fluffy.
  2. Prepare masala:
    • Heat oil. Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, curry leaves, green chilli, and onion.
  3. Add tomato powder:
    • Mix tomato powder with 3 tbsp warm water. Add to pan along with turmeric and salt. Cook until aromatic.
  4. Combine:
    • Add cooked rice and gently mix.

Tip

  • Tomato powder replaces both fresh tomatoes and tamarind—adjust quantity based on tang preference.
